Fun and Games?

A Tale of Good Sportsmanship........
The evening started with Jace wanting Grandma to play a game of swipe (just he and I); this request did not go over so well with Heather. She told Jace she wanted to play and it wasn't fair for just Jace to play with Grandma. Jace backed down and agreed (with the old...OK, fine) sentiments. Sammie soon came and wanted to play also. We all sat down to a fun game of swipe (every time I play this game I hear the darling laugh of Hamilton swiping from me). Jace explained the details of the game and added to Heather, don't get mad if someone swipes from you. I added my usual talk; the importance of playing to have fun. This is the ironic part....Heather told everyone; "we all need to be Good sports"! So we agreed and started the game. Heather was happy for a minute until......people were swiping from her, she said; "it's not fair"! So Jace explained it is fair and I agreed. Meanwhile; Sammie was killing us! She had seven dice and most of the chips! I had to grab my camera and take a picture of the amazing feat. I said way-to-go Sammie and took a picture; the part that was hilarious to me was I looked at Heather and she was being a BAD SPORT; although she made it clear we all need to be good sports. I had to take a picture. She will laugh later when her kids do the same. Heather ended up crying at the end of the game and pouting for a while; wanting Grandma to hold her and hug her better. Of coarse I reiterated the importance of playing to have fun. I had to laugh quietly and tell Jack how funny it was to me!

I remembered growing up; my older sister had to win at games. She always cheated. I was always happy to let her win if it was so important to her.
Oh what fond moments with Fun and Games. Thanks Heidi & Don for letting us help teach Good Sportsmanship!
